Welcome back to YeeFit adventurers! Phase 2 of our Grand Canyon backpacking training plan is here, and today, we're going to take a deep dive into an often overlooked aspect of fitness: anxiety & breathing. That's right, in this phase, we're focusing on the importance of preparing your mind as well as your body's respiratory functions during high exertion.
Phase 2: Increasing Intensity (Weeks 5-8)
Week 5-6: Increase the duration and intensity of aerobic workouts. Aim for 45-60 minutes of cardio, 4-5 times a week. Include interval training or hill workouts to simulate hiking conditions.
Week 7-8: Continue with strength training, adding weights or resistance bands to increase intensity. Focus on compound exercises like deadlifts, rows, and overhead presses. Incorporate balance and stability exercises to prepare for uneven terrain.
