I was asked to join a group of guys and share some history, but could not make it do to work. I owed some fundage to one of them and it had been many moons, since I had seen a bunch of the guys, so I planned to meet them mid-way, on their way out. The canyon has been open for a couple months now, and already some scum has left behind a bottle here, a can there.
On my way in, I moved it directly onto the trail, in hopes some would be carried out by others. I was the first to begin on the day we were returning and about 30% of the trash I set aside was gone. I bagged all I saw and carried it out, Any I might have overlooked, I am sure Matt and his crew swept through like a mobile cleaning crew. The guys are all in their 20s and 30s, one of them asked me "how old are you now"?
I said, I'll be 60 in a couple moons! DANG!
60, For those of you who took the time to read this, AND you have backpacked or fished with me and are local, contact me for a special shin dig we are planning.
