After the interesting and informative discussions around my previous and rather extreme render of this piece (thanks especially to Jacob Turnbaugh for some fascinating information) I came up with this somewhat more 'normal' render.
The sound engine is identical (yes - really); the only difference between this and the other version tweaking of parameters. For example, the envelope is sharper on the attack and the ring modulation lighter; the harmonic roll off and thus brightness (in the pure synthesis uses of the word*) is also very much less. Lots of minor tweaks move the sound so far it is really nothing much like the previous.
Anyhow, I hope that this version shows how synthetic sounds can be quite palatable; if not at least this forest in the Ardennes looks nice ;)
