Turn an idea into a world. This workshop is a rapid-fire introduction to making 3D environments from scratch with Blender. We will take an artist-friendly approach as we walk through a variety of tools and workflows. Building a world does not have to be complicated!
We will start with a quick intro to 3D modeling and create a few basic props. Then we will look at ways to make Blender do the hard work of spawning our props across a 3D landscape. And after we've built up the skeleton of our world, we can add details, change styles, create colorful and funky materials, import photos, and make our 3D world nice!
Participants will get to:
- Navigate Blender's Interface
- Model basic 3D objects
- Use modifiers to generate and populate a landscape
- Define visual style with materials
- Render and export images
- Use the shader editor to dive even deeper

â—¥ Part of Terraforms - Game Mods at Babycastles â—¥
Curated by Sarah Brin and Zach Gage
( v. ) 1. to modify a worlds environment so that it can support Earth life-forms, especially humans. An exhibition dedicated to game artists and their radical reconfigurations of traditional gamescapes. As we move further into the digital realm, the rules that govern it are becoming increasingly transparent. What was once clearly articulated has become an amorphous set of unchallenged rules and sociological boundaries. Despite their subtlety, these digital restrictions, much like the natural laws of the physical world, affect every aspect of the increasingly virtual lifestyles we lead. Yet, the virtural world is made of code, and its rules can be broken. These seven artists move outside of digital boundaries, forcibly modifying gamescapes while pressing us to rethink our beliefs.
