First things first: formula is a safe, science-backed way to nourish millions of babies every day.

You may have seen news about recent tests for heavy metals in infant formulas. In nearly all samples, levels were well within safe limits — though most had trace amounts. So what does that really mean?
Trace amounts of heavy metals naturally occur in many foods, even in breast milk.

These elements come from the Earth — they’re found in soil, water, and crops.

The important thing is keeping exposure levels low, and that’s something formula makers work hard to do.

Pediatricians, formula manufacturers, and food safety experts all play a role in making sure formula is safe and provides the right nutrition for babies.
