My Avowed Review for Xbox Series X | S, PC. Avowed from Obsidian is a game best Avoided.
That's not to say "Avowed is Bad", "Avowed is Trash", "Avowed Sucks", but what I mean is that Avowed is a boring, unoriginal example of the mediocre slop that plagues modern AAA Western gaming. Even in Xbox Game Pass, I would hardly recommend even taking the time to try out Avowed for "free" given just how unremarkable and generic the game really is. There is nothing special here, nothing that makes it feel unique, and nothing that will make you look back on your time with the games other than how downright hideous the Characters are this game. This game truly is a first person Dragon Age Veilguard with somehow an even worse story, less impactful decisions, and a cast of characters that rivals the very worst found in Veilguard. Add in the controversy surrounding the game with the Woke Art Director and his quest to get rid of the "crusty white dudes" in the gaming industry and to deliberately implement woke character creation elements like pronouns to own the chuds, and we have the perfect recipe for disaster. Microsoft has once again delivered another slop tier Xbox Game Pass filler title that anyone being honest would struggle to say is worth the $20 Game Pass Ultimate membership fee to play.
