My review of the 14th Avon Phantom novelization, The Assassins. This is the second book in a row by a ghostwriter who did a single Avon volume. While I enjoy all 15 books, 13 and 14 are the two weakest ones with this book in particular being the least effective of the series for me. It remains a fun and quick read but the quality of the writing just doesn't elevate the material as much as the other books. It still draws from Lee Falk's original newspaper strip story but if I was having to rank the Avon books this one would come in last.
