Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra love to talk about balance, but on further inspection, a lot of that balance seems to be in service of the status quo.
From Aang's "non-violent" solution to Firelord Ozai to Korra's utopian vision of America, the franchise struggles to imagine a world beyond the systems it critiques. Let's talk about it.
I've been alluding to an Avatar video forever now. And, it feels like a good time to make one. This one's on the short side, but I hope properly communicates this issue. This one's also quite personal to me, because I'm deeply infatuated with this series on a personal and creative level. Hopefully, that shines through with this video.
