On January 21, 2012 Avalanche Awareness Day was held in Corner Brook at both Marble Mountain and the Blow Me Down Cross Country Ski Club. Many people came signed up for an avalanche awareness course and picked up information about avalanches in Western Newfoundland. Also on January 25 in the evening a basic information on avalanches was held at Grenfell Campus. Thanks to the Canadian Avalanche Foundation for funding avalanche awareness in Newfoundland. Backcountry Access supplied beacons, probes and shovels and CIBC also helped sponsor these events.
