Gregor charts how autonomous and uncrewed systems are reshaping force protection in modern air power—from the RAAF’s pioneering MQ-28A Ghost Bat program to the RAF’s StormShroud EW drone, and the U.S. push with Anduril’s YFQ-44A Fury and GA-ASI’s YFQ-42A. We compare what small, attritable collaborative aircraft can (and can’t) do next to heavyweight crewed platforms like the EA-18G Growler, spotlight real manned-unmanned teaming milestones (E-7A Wedgetail flying with Ghost Bats), and look ahead to the carrier-borne MQ-25A Stingray tanker.
