A man from the Gold Coast is facing a possible death sentence over the alleged murder of another Australian in Syria.

Twenty-year old Patrick Stevenson has spent more than six months in prison, and with diplomacy going nowhere, his parents have decided to speak out.

The family of the man he's accused of killing is not speaking to the media.
