Austin Prock showed why Las Vegas has become his playground, powering his Cornwell Tools Chevrolet Camaro SS to a blistering 3.895 at 334.48 mph on Friday at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The run earned him the $3,500 Ted Wiens Trick or Traction Award and put the reigning Funny Car world champion on track for his seventh No. 1 qualifier of the 2025 season.
Prock, who’s chasing his second straight NHRA Funny Car title, has now made the quickest run in both sessions and continues to thrive where he’s won the last two Vegas events.
“We couldn’t ask for a better start,” Prock said. “No. 1 qualifier, low E.T. of both rounds — you can’t ask for any more than that out of this team.”
With Matt Hagan close behind at 3.897/329.75 and rookie Spencer Hyde third at 3.917/324.75, the Funny Car championship fight remains fierce. But in Sin City, Prock once again looks like the man to beat.
