The Gospel of Matthew invites us into the extraordinary life and teachings of Jesus Christ. It’s not just a historical account but a testimony to God’s faithful fulfillment of His promises. Jesus is the Messiah foretold in the Old Testament. As prophesied, He was born of David’s lineage (Matthew 1:1) and came into the world through a virgin (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23).
God meticulously prepared this plan of salvation out of His great love for humanity. Matthew illustrates the beauty of God’s kingdom and how we are called to participate in it. He offers rest to all who come to Him, saying, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28-30).
Through the Holy Spirit, we can grasp God’s heart as we read Matthew. God desires us to repent and return to Him. He wants everyone to be saved (1 Timothy 2:4) and demonstrated His perfect love through Jesus Christ. Jesus bore our sins on the cross, enabling us to live a new life under God’s grace (Matthew 26:28).
When we see the fulfillment of prophecy in Scripture, we are assured of God’s faithfulness. Jesus, declared as “the Messiah, the Son of the living God” (Matthew 16:16), promised to always be with us (Matthew 28:20). The Holy Spirit is with us today, guiding us to understand God’s will.
