Making a cesium metal high vacuum plasma discharge tube turned out just as if not more challenging then I initially thought. Several tubes were made with failure in mind and there were several failures! Fortunately I was able to get a working tube. The main issues encountered were difficulty in handling the cesium and transferring it from one tube to another and successful evacuation and sealing-off of the tubes. A small portable tesla coil, 3-way glass stopcock, tank of argon gas, borosilicate tubes, propane torch, nitrile gloves, cesium metal sample, syringes with stainless steel wide bore needles, air tight stoppers and of course lots of patience made this project possible.
