The AT&T Merlin Classic phone system was revolutionary for its time in the '80s into the early '90s. Its successors brought about new features and functionality but still kept the same theme going of being an easy and simple (yet expandable and feature rich for the time) key telephone system for businesses and offices everywhere. So it was only natural that the once-ubiquitous (during the time) and most popular ten button BIS-10 desk phone got a refresh in the '90s that added a feature taken for granted and expected to be the norm today: speakerphone capabilities!
