Cape Canaveral Space Force Museum | Atlas I AC-71 Galaxy 1R Launch, Pad 36B, Engineering Stringout, August 22, 1992 @ccspacemuseum | Uploaded April 2021 | Updated October 2024, 3 hours ago.
On August 22, 1992, an Atlas I with a Centaur upper stage launched from Cape Canaveral's Launch Pad 36B. The payload was the Hughes Communications Galaxy 1R communications satellite. The mission failed due to an engine valve problem with the Centaur upper stage.
Although the title card says the booster was an Atlas II, multiple sources confirm it was an Atlas I.
