We look at the first half of the 1864 Atlanta Campaign, where Sherman's Union army group faced off against the Confederate Army of Tennesee under Joseph E. Johnston. Sherman's hope was to capture the important industrial and rail center at Atlanta and Johnston's task was quite simply to stop him.
