Part of an excellent CGI commercial made for Atari by Robert Abel and Associates that features Yars' Revenge, Asteroids, and Star Raiders, and intended to be shown in movie theaters. An article about how it was made appeared in the July/August 1983 issue of Atari Age magazine (pg. 20), which was reprinted from an issue of Technology Illustrated. It's unknown what movie(s) it was shown with.
Star Raiders was programmed by Carla Meninsky with graphics by Jerome Domurat and is a simplified port of Doug Neubauer's classic Atari 400/800 computer game. It was packaged in an over-sized box along with Vol. 3 of the Atari Force mini-comics and the Video Touch Pad controller. When you start a game, or when a starbase is destroyed, the first 3 notes from the movie theme, "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" plays.
