At least 90 people have died and hundreds are missing in the wake of Category 4 Hurricane Helene, the strongest hurricane on record to make landfall in Florida's Big Bend.
Helene hit the Southeastern U.S. on Thursday evening local time with wind speeds of 2-hundred-25 kilometers per hour.
Massive damage and fatalities were reported across six states including North Carolina, Georgia and Florida, forcing the authorities to airdrop supplies as they tried to restore power and clear roads after Helene left people stranded and without shelter.
People are also facing frustration from disrupted fuel supplies with hours-long lines to fill up empty tanks, while supply shortages are being reported by more than a million households.
The number of hurricane-related deaths is expected to climb as the authorities fear they will discover more bodies among the missing.
