This narrated movie uses watercolor illustrations to explain the discovery of a warped supernova called SN Zwicky. The Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) first spotted the rare object, while the W.M. Keck Observatory followed up to capture a detailed image of SN Zwicky. That image revealed that a phenomenon known as gravitational lensing had caused the light from the supernova to be warped to such an extent that four duplicated images of the object appear on the sky. Observations from the Very Large Telescope were also used in the study.
