When a spacecraft comes back into Earth's atmosphere, it's travelling extremely fast. So fast, in fact, that just the air itself can cause the spacecraft to heat up quickly! In this video, Astronaut Don Thomas teaches Astronaut Candidate Brian (voiced by Brian Thomas Smith) all about the heatshield that will be on the bottom of his spacecraft.
