Character: Sakamoto
Slightly unusual and hectic airborne fighting game. Pretty fun to watch and play. Instead of jump and duck "sidesteps" can be performed to go up or down and these can be connected to combos. There are only six moves and two special attacks "Star Attacks", that consume star energy. Also the characters can "power up" making combos easier to perform. The game is rather simple to learn and less tactical when compared to other fighting games of the time. More experienced players probably can perform longer combos and make better use of timing etc.
I didn't find the game particularly hard in story mode. Finished the game without much practice or tools. I put the difficulty option to level 5 in the menu, but not sure if it affects the story mode. There are three options at the beginning of each match. Apparently those determine handicap settings, making CPU either easier or harder. Easy and hard options are shown in the first matches after which the neutral is selected for following matches. Japan exclusive port for Saturn was released only two months after the arcade original

![The Gene Machine (PC DOS) longplay
Point & click adventure game developed by Divide By Zero and released in 1996. The plot shared many common elements with Jules Vernes Around the World in Eighty Days, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and From the Earth to the Moon, as well as many other literary and historical references to Victorian England, such as Sherlock Holmes, Treasure Island, The Time Machine, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Jack the Ripper and many others [Wikipedia].
This game is slightly better than the adventure game, Guilty developed the previous year by the same group. This game has better interface, graphics, voice acting and is altogether more polished. Few jokes are even a bit funny at the beginning. But when every (self directed) parodic remark turns out to be about the nobility of the main protagonist and he mocking his lowly manservant, it becomes tedious to listen much too early and furthers the one dimensional appearance of both protagonists. Too bad the opportunity to write proper dialogue between the characters was wasted, couldve been much more interesting. In this respect, the game is very similar to Guilty, where the protagonists also loop similar insults over and over again.
