A small asteroid named 2026 RW1 entered Earth’s atmosphere Sunday, Sept. 6, at 16:07 UTC and burned up over the Indian Ocean off the northwest coast of Western Australia. Mount Lemmon Observatory found it only hours before impact — the 13th asteroid ever detected before it hit. No damage.
