This video is a part of the - "Create TV/Broadcast Ready Animations with Adobe Animate" series. In this series, Prof. Greg Araya from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) teaches how to create TV and broadcast ready animations with Adobe Animate. You can download Adobe Animate from adobe.com/in/products/animate.html.

What you learned:
- Nesting Symbols within Symbols is a reliable way to create functional hierarchies for character animation.
- When converting a selection of multiple symbols into a single symbol, the separate layers are condensed into a single layer inside the new Symbol.
- Grouping Shapes within themselves will prevent them from flattening into each other when converted to a Symbol.
- To create a new Symbol made up of separate symbols (and shapes) select everything on the stage that you want to be symbolized, then select Modify then Convert to Symbol.
- Tweening Shapes and Symbols on the same Layer is problematic. Anything that will be animated must be on its own Layer. The easy way to make this happen is to select everything on the Stage and select Modify then Timeline & then Distribute to Layers.
- Grouped Shapes can be Ungrouped after they have been distributed back to their own Layers.
- When multiple Symbols have been converted to a single Symbol, they leave behind empty layers. These empty Layers may be deleted to clean up the Timeline.
- Another way to think of a Symbol is like its own self-contained stage with its own timeline.
- Save your incremental progress as a new file.
