The Objective Integrated Force demands more than the acquisition of new platforms — it relies on the ability to integrate, sustain, train and prepare the force as a cohesive, multi-domain system.

At the 2026 ASPI Defence Conference, Lieutenant General Susan Coyle’s discussion with former Defence Minister Joel Fitzgibbon reflected on how Australia's Joint Capabilities Group has, over the past two years, advanced the integration of cyber and space as operational domains, strengthened joint command and control, and delivered more resilient logistics, training, and national support frameworks.

The conversation also explored how these achievements are enabling Defence to move beyond a ‘joint’ force toward a genuinely integrated, ready and resilient force, able to operate effectively in competition and conflict.
