Asmodeu were a death/thrash metal band from Brazil. Formed in 1988, they released 3 demos and this was their last recorded material.
Even though I included thrash as a genre for this band, their stuff sticks to mostly mid-tempo riffs. There are, of course, some faster bits but I feel like they're interrupted too fast most of the times. Regardless, if you can over how much the crash cymbals sting your ears sometimes, it's a really good piece of Brazilian metal, home of some of the coolest OG thrash!

Burn Pile hail from Washington in the US of A and you might not know how familiar you really are with this band. This demo is their only released material since the band members quickly went on to currently legendary acts such as Cerebral Rot, Mortiferum, Caustic Wound and Funebrarum. If you know the bands Ive just mentioned, I dont think you need any introductions to this demo, but if not (first of all, what are you doing? Go listen to them) let me have a crack at it.
Beefy, huge sounding, cavernous, raw death metal as it should be. You know Im very apologetic of 80s and 90s death metal, but man theres some insane shit post 2000 too. Rawness definitely helps every other aspect in this demo, but the dynamic range of these guys is crazy too, from slow doom-y riffs to pummelling grinding bits. Honestly dont sleep on this shit, Ive wanted to upload it for so long...

Conjuration were an American death metal band. Formed in 1988, they released 2 demos, Reality of Life being their second one, and a single, all in 1990.
Their breed of death metal is very thrashy, which makes sense for a band formed in the late 80s. Takes for sure influences from Demolition Hammer, Morbid Saint, Pestilence and sometimes I hear a little bit of Obituary - Cause of Death. Its a great demo for any fan of late 80s thrashing death metal.

The Day After single is the sole release of Portuguese thrash/death metal band Merciless Death. They formed in 1988 and, as far as I know, didnt release anything else on tape.
Being named Merciless Death, probably after the Dark Angel song, immediately shows their influences. They arent as aggressive as DA, but damn they do pack a punch. Probably a shame that we didnt get anything else from them.

As far as thrash metal goes, they dont bring anything new to the table. Its early 90s thrash metal, pretty much disjointed from their punk and speed metal roots. If thats up your alley, be my guest and enjoy

Lobotomist were a delightfully amateurish death metal band from Canada. They only ever released this demo.
Straight up front, this demo isnt very good. Its not dynamic at all, mostly midpaced, has a super awkward tapping/shredding solo and it sounds like it was recorded while trying not to wake up their sleeping granny. Despite all that, I get a lot of enjoyment from these types of demos because someone took time out of their day to write these riffs, program those drums, record and master the demo and even drawing and painting that awesome cover art. I value man-made things a lot these days, and that makes this demo very valuable to me!

The comeback album by the cult classic band Lethal Prayer! Very well known by their 1996 debut Spiritual Decay, in 2025 they decided to self release Sacrilege Infernus and bring back hell! Its quite a bit more black metal leaning than their debut, still has the same punch and doom.
The album was released independently, was not released in any streaming services, was barely publicised, CD orders only through a specific email, etc... I highly respect trying to revive the good old days where word of mouth was what sold obscure tapes, I think Lethal Prayer are very real for that... However, I also believe music is much better when anyone can access it (otherwise, Id still be listening to fucking uhh Slipknot since my friend wouldnt have had the chance to show me Ossuarys Supreme Degradation demo back in 2019) so here it is for everyone to enjoy.
Lets see how long this one stays up :)

Gods of Grief were a short lived Swedish death metal band. As far as I know, this was the only material they ever released.
Their style is unmistakably swedish, just without the Boss HM-2 pedal. Its very fun to listen to, the 2nd track is probably my favourite. Like all the best swedeath, they know when to use skank beats as they should.

Leprosy were a Greek death metal band. Formed in 1994 as Ulto Divina, the band released 2 demos before changing their name to Leprosy in 96. Afterwards, Liel, Penetration of the Soul and Intellectual Slaugter were the 3 demos released by the band.
If youve heard European death metal, you will agree with me that this is undoubtedly a product of the nearby influences in the late 90s. Super low vocals without ever getting guttural, some oddly fitting raspy shrieks and a bunch of muted chords were super common from 96 onwards. And the closer? Not many outside Europe used to do that kind of closer track. Leprosy are a product of their time and they couldnt be better.

Necros were a French death metal band and Life Reject is their only known material.
Super super straight forward demo, very thrashy and groovy. There are a bunch of mid-tempo breaks on the riffs that really show off that side of theirs. All the main riffs have the typical fast open string thrash strumming followed by some tremollos or something like that (my bad if thats not it, I know jack shit about proper technique names). A short n sweet demo!

Guthook is a one-man slaughterhouse straight outta New Jersey, home of legends like Siege Column,
Deteriorot, Incantation, Symphony of Grief and Evoken - these last couple of bands, along with other heavy hitters such as Thergothon, Ceremonium or Decomposed must have definitely influenced Guthook.
38 minutes of death doom rage with funeral doom-like tempos that sounds straight out of the butchers hidden torture cave. The suitable Hellraiser inspired cover art provides the perfect visualization of this demo. None of the songs ever go above 10bpm and its fucking brutal, pure slow agonizing torment. Real knuckle draggin riffs....
If you sleep on this I hope you get a little visit from a cenobite during the night that makes you experience the album very intimately.
Shoutout Brazen Bull for the insane solo work on this demo, fucking hell its hard to top an effort like this.

French death/doomers Elégie play in the style of Paradise Lost with heavy focus on melody and atmosphere. Theres a bunch of gothic to the demo, theres flutes too, acoustic guitars, organs, spoken voice, etc etc... Almost unfitting to the general vibe I tend to have on the channel, but I thought this demo was somewhat interesting, so here it is.
