Throughout my visit to Thailand, these beautiful richly coloured bee-eaters were quite commonly spotted, often resting on high open perches.
They behaved like other bee-eater species. Being relatively adaptable, they were seen perching on fence wires and electric wires as well, sallying off to hunt for flying insects before returning to the same perches.
The first part of the video is a recording of a Green Bee-eater calling.
The Asian Green Bee-eater, aka Little Green Bee-eater, has a wide range of distribution throughout Asia, with four subspecies recognised within this range.
This subspecies in Thailand is the ferrugeiceps.
