Nationally, unions are in a tough spot. That's according to Andrew Hedden, Associate Director of the Harry Bridges Center for Labor Studies, at the University of Washington.

Washington has the 3rd largest union density in the country, which means the state is a good place for unionized workers. However, giant Seattle companies, such as Starbucks, Amazon and REI, to name a few, are under scrutiny for their union practices.
