King County employees have seen major workplace changes since King County Executive Girmay Zahilay took over.

Zahilay has made sweeping staffing and departmental changes, putting people out of work, and announced a new policy requiring employees to work in-office three days a week. These moves drew vocal opposition from some county staff.

As the first new County Executive in 16 years, succeeding longtime Executive Dow Constantine, Zahilay believes some of the outcry was related to that.
