A song based on the tale of Rumpelstiltskin. I took a bit of creative liberty and condensed the classic tale to fit within a shortened lyrical format, but overall it still follows the core concept of the original story.
This one was long overdue. I literally wrote it last summer, and it got sort of lost in the back corners of my pc. Even though it's an older piece, I am still quite pleased with how it turned out.
Rumpelstiltskin is a German fairytale, first published by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm in their 1812 collection titled Children's and Household Tales. The original story tells of a miller's daughter, whose father boasted she could spin straw to gold, and as a result, the king locks her away. In her pleas for help, a fae assists her with this task. The first night she gives her necklace as payment. The second night, she gives her ring. On the third night, he demands her first born child. She becomes queen as a result of the golden thread, and a year later gives birth. When the fae returns to claim the child, she begs him to take anything else, and he tells her she may keep the child, but only if she guesses his true name within three days.
