Written and co-produced by The E Street Band’s Steven Van Zandt, Sun City was recorded as a protest song against the South African policy of apartheid. The video was directed by Jonathan Demme (with Godley & Creme) and features numerous members of the Artists United Against Apartheid that performed the song. Such artists include, but is not limited to, Bruce Springsteen, Miles Davis, Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Ringo Starr, Bonnie Raitt, Nona Hendryx, Hall & Oates, Pat Benatar, Bono and Van Zandt himself.
