The Marist-LdM Institute master's students have collaborated with the Museo Stibbert to deliver this exhibition that follows the artistic career of the artist and collector.
The exhibition "Frederick Stibbert Artist and Collector," shows a new aspect of the multi-faceted figure of Frederick Stibbert: his activity as an amateur painter combined with the collecting of 19th century painters.
He collected artworks of contemporary painters of his time, most of all genre paintings, historical subjects or romantic views. These artworks, together with his pictorial production, decorated the private rooms of his villa, such as the bedroom, the studio and the living rooms. After an introduction on the figure of the young Frederick and his pictorial training, works from artists of the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence are presented.
The Marist-LdM Institute students collaborated with the museum to assist on some essential parts of organising an exhibition such as the social media promotion. Studying museum studies means a practical hands-on experience like this is extremely valuable and the students have developed skills in a professional working environment.
