We need a new model for journalistic theatre to bring urgent stories to an audience overwhelmed with social media distraction. In theatre, people have the opportunity to reflect on a topic together with time and patience. Unlike on social media, they are not distracted – on the contrary, they can grasp the complexity of a given investigation for hours. One theatre evening is equivalent to 3.6 million seconds spent on TikTok, but with a much bigger impact on a personal level. To increase the opportunities of journalistic theatre we need to build the capacity among European theatre professionals and journalists to bring stories faster to the stage and facilitate dialogue with audiences. We discuss the opportunities ahead with Vanessa Rousselot, co-founder of Diario Vivo, Jean Peters, editor-in-chief of CORRECTIV and David Schraven, publisher of CORRECTIV. Diario Vivo is a Spanish media outlet that brings together modern storytelling and impressive live performance. CORRECTIV is Germany's leading non-profit investigative newsroom that regularly brings investigations to the big stage. Moderated by David Schraven. Organised in association with CORRECTIV.
