I just made a film showing how bladed type 16 arrows can penetrate maille and gambeson, but of course we also need to look at type 7 needle bodkins against maille. So here we are.
We know (or at least we think we know) that needle bodkins are good against maille, but a year ago I showed that if you greased them they would be better against gambeson on its own - is this true of composite armour like this?
I also look at the penetration using a lighter bow to simulate shooting in earlier times.
