Join me for an Arizona rockhounding trip near Wickenburg as I search the desert surface for quartz crystals, quartz crystal scepters, iron-stained quartz, jasper, volcanic rock, and other interesting desert finds.
This Wickenburg rockhounding adventure focuses on surface hunting for quartz crystals in the Arizona desert. Some of the best finds include clear quartz, milky quartz, red and golden iron-stained quartz, and unusual crystal shapes that formed through multiple growth stages.
Along the way, we explore desert washes, rocky hillsides, Joshua trees, and remote 4x4 areas while looking for signs of geology shaped by water, heat, minerals, and time. I also come across pottery sherds and possible stone tools, which are observed respectfully and left in place.
