THIS iteration of Archie Sonic doesn't have the largest presence in the overall narrative of the film, so I knew it gave us room to be experimental & try something different with Sonic's voice!
At the same time, I've been adamant about wanting this project to feel like a celebration of the franchise as well as its community, & there are SO many wonderful Sonic fan VAs who've made their mark on the fandom over the years.
Knowing Steve from all his creative fanworks back in the 2000s to now & getting to chat with him & take part in projects based on his work before, it made sense to give him a ring for the role of Archie Sonic! I wrote a set of test lines ranging from SatAM to the Modern Sonic games ( Given that's how long Archie Sonic had been around! ) & we aimed to find a sense of direction that felt right for the character!
The result is a Modern-Era Sonic with the peppiness & energetic spirit of Jaleel White's Sonic as a backbone. A mix of Steve's default Sonic voice with a hint of the 90s Sonic that Archie Sonic started as!
