A debate has recently emerged between an archaeologist and a pagan influencer on TikTok, and it raises bigger questions about history, interpretation, and misinformation online. The controversy centres on accusations of pseudo-archaeology: the use of historical claims that aren’t supported by evidence, and how these ideas can sometimes overlap with more extreme ideological narratives. In this video, I break down what’s actually being said, where these interpretations come from, and why the line between history, identity, and belief can become blurred online.
This isn’t about attacking individuals: it’s about understanding how the past is used (and sometimes misused) in modern digital spaces.
