Dr. Qiang Chang, Director of the Waisman Center, presented on Autism Today: Decoding the Trends.
The lecture’s title is significant: The apparent frequency of autism expands as studies and discoveries of its causes and effects continue and other known diseases appear to be forms of autism. There is no single test for it, nor one apparent cause or effect.
Related to the above, first studies of autism were conducted in the 1960s by the University of Wisconsin, and the possible relationship of autism and developmental disabilities began to be studied in 2002 and 2004, expanding known relationships. The discovery of early onset has also enhanced understanding as well as broader forms of collaborative care at all levels of the disease.
