Ever since I saw the total solar eclipse on my birthday in 2017, I've been fascinated by the phenomenon. Sure, in theory it is a pretty mundane event, of course the moon will pass in front of the sun sometimes. But what really gets to me is just how surreal experiencing something like that feels. The subtle shift in the light, the crescents in the shadows, a change in temperature in the path of totality. Just looking up to see that what you know to exist is now completely different, just for a moment, just feels so uncanny!
On the 14th of October this year (2023), I got to see most of the annular solar eclipse, and I figured I would try to capture a bit of the moment and try to translate the experience into this new electronic medium of music I have been exploring. Definitely still learning, but it has been a fun process and I think this is one of my better experiments in this context!
