On January 27, 1997, the 30th anniversary of the Apollo 1 fire at Launch Complex 34, the Kennedy Space Center's Visitor Information Center held a memorial event. Among the attendees were representatives of the three astronauts' families. The astronaut speakers were Jack Lousma and Pam Melroy.
