it would have been great if this had been done in time for the Re:vale anniversary, but the new song lyrics video came out a little more than 24 hours ago so... with me being the slowest editor ever, it was clearly not gonna happen
tbh i had started this as a random video without a specific concept behind it, i just wanted to have fun with this new Re:vale AU thats been bestowed upon us, but since the song is SO FAST PACED (and a curse to edit) in the end there werent enough scenes to fill in the gaps. so i had a big brain moment and thought: what if i incorporated the no doubt/mission AU into this as well?
basically, the main idea would be the AU in the recent lyrics video for Re:vales new song period color (here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzWw7dqK31g): Yuki is some overworked company CEO (which is actually what led me to this song choice, working your fingers to the bone etc.), while Momo is a convenience store worker. they meet through an online game and play together in this game world without knowing each others irl identities. what i did was adding scenes from the no doubt MV, trying to make it into another game they also play together haha being the excessively logical person that i am, i needed a proper explanation as to why theyd randomly show up as a detective and a criminal in the middle of the video. so, in this AU within the AU, mission is also a game they both play. and it seems like Yuki is better at this one than the other, since he wins in the end 😂
anyway this is the reason why i made that mission login screen at 0:17 and added the game start sound effects. i had a lot of fun with this video actually, editing while trying to convey a certain plot is usually more interesting than merely trying to make things look presentable

i had started a video with this anime back when i watched it at the end of january, but never finished it because i lost all motivation. since then, i told myself i should also read the novel, seeing how everyone was recommending it, but in the end i guess i kinda forgot about it and only picked it up last week. i finished it in only three days and loved every single line, the anime was already breathtaking but it cant compare to what reading the full story feels like. im too lazy to write much about it right now, but it was seriously such a beautiful experience :) im kinda late to the party and almost everyone knows about it by now, but ill still recommend both the anime and the novel in case you havent got the chance to give them a try yet! its definitely not the usual cliche romance, theres a whole complex plot behind it which makes things way more interesting
as for the video, idk what is my computers problem but not only it takes AGES to render something so simple, it even terribly ruins the quality of the clips :/ i tried rendering four or five times changing various settings, but cant seem to find whats wrong so in the end im uploading as it is. and as you can see, i probably spent more time rendering than actually editing lol https://prnt.sc/nwmlkq

this must have been the most frustrating raw video ive ever edited, im d e c e a s e d
idk what went wrong, the song didnt even sound all that terrible to edit with and surely i didnt have lack of inspiration, but it took 4374823 years to finish regardless. well, at least its done and i wont have to deal with any of it anymore LOL im not sure about the result, i actually finished this yesterday evening but it looked so awful to me that i decided to just sleep and check it out again today, and in fact after that it didnt look nearly as terrible (i guess it was just all the piled up frustration making me see things worse than they actually were), but im still not 100% convinced. well, what can i say, at least i can tell the song fits the pairing 100% so this already makes me happy and the scene selection makes me wanna cry because it goes from all happy to angst and pain and ahhh i love them so much
this is my entry for the 2018 SaruMi fest, which is a week when fans of this pairing gather and post their works on tumblr. i did a video last year too, which was SAD as well, i wonder if ill ever edit something happier with them one day? haha
but i was glad to edit this video because first of all i heard this song for the first time one year ago or more, and IMMEDIATELY thought about SaruMi, it fits so much its not even funny. so i started a project (which for me means: drag the song into SV, cut it and then just do the video in my head without actually editing anything) and never continued it in the end. i thought this was a good occasion to finish one of my 838432890 unfinished edits, i was undecided between this and another one and this was the final choice. i still wanna do the other one too though LOL and the fact that i edited with these two for the first time in July since the year started kinda weirded me out, since you know, if we could sum up everything thats on this channel probably a good 10-15% would be just them :/ but im sure there will be many more new edits in the future, considering a movie focused on their first encounter and their relationship throughout the years is coming out in october and im SO EXCITED. i never would have thought in my life that id see the day when the manga would be animated :)
