On ANZAC Day, we take a moment to remember the courage and sacrifice of all those who have served, reflecting on their stories and honouring their legacy.
For one RFS brigade, the day holds a particularly special meaning, as the suburb they are located in and the name of their brigade, traces its origins back to an Australian World War II Victoria Cross recipient.
Flight Sergeant Rawdon “Ron” Middleton, served as a Stirling bomber pilot in No. 149 Squadron, Royal Air Force, during the second World War. His courageous efforts, and the dedication he showed in saving his crew mates during a mission in 1942, earned him the prestigious Victoria Cross (VC), awarded posthumously.
Today, we pause to remember not only Rawdon Middleton, but all those who have served and continue to serve our country, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for us all.
We will remember them. Lest we forget.
