A common criticism of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary has to do with a lack of documentary evidence from the first couple of centuries. This, Protestants will say, indicates a later development that renders the doctrine a post-apostolic innovation. In this video, I will consider the merits of this objection and give some reasons as to why we could reasonably expect silence about this belief.
