The Human Rights Foundation is proud to announce the “AI for Individual Rights” program to advance AI as a tool of freedom. This program is the world’s first to expose artificial intelligence used by autocrats as tools of repression and support open-source AI tools in the hands of dissidents, especially those oppressed under tyranny.

The program will research and reveal how authoritarian regimes harness AI to surveil and censor its citizens, support open-source AI developers building privacy-preserving AI safe for dissidents under dictatorships, educate human rights defenders about the AI tools best for upgrading their work, and unite leaders in the AI space with dissidents and activists to put civil liberties in the center of the AI industry conversation.
