So I got some announcements for ya. First off, I'm delighted to announce that Fujifilm has invited me back to speak on the joys of printing your photos! That will be in the Fujifilm booth at WPPI in Las Vegas in the last week of February. I'll also be part of a film Q&A panel where some of us film photographers will get together to talk about how rad film is (I'm really looking forward to that one).
Come say hi, gets your hands on some beautiful Fujifilm cameras, and hear from all the wonderful speakers they have lined up. It's gon' be fun!
And secondly, I want to give you an update on that online course about manual metering for film photography that I've been teasing for so long.
I'll give it to you straight: it's a hefty course that's taking me a ton of time and effort to complete, and I constantly have work getting in the way. But I'm working on it! I swear! I'm actually very excited about it. I think it's going to be my best course to date.
Currently I have 25% of the curriculum finished. It may actually be more than that because that 25% comprises the real core, meat-and-potatoes heart of the course.
In the course I'll be covering every last thing I think you'll need to know to master metering for film, including:
- The Precision Method to Manual Metering (that's what I'm calling my main, precise technique for metering)
- Quicker and sloppier methods for manual metering (for those times where you need to get your settings quickly)
- Image pre-visualization
- Dynamic Range
- Pushing and pulling film
- Metering with filters
- Metering for different types of film
- Using different types of meters, from handheld reflected meters to in-camera TTL meters
I'm really looking forward to getting it out to you. Believe me, no one wants this course to be done and out there more than me. Thank you for your patience and thank you to those who have reached out showing interest in the course!
