Is the amount of suffering animals have to endure compatible with the belief in an all-loving and all-powerful God? Many skeptics would say that it isn’t. The problem of animal suffering has gained prominence on YouTube especially after @CosmicSkeptic released his Biggest Case Against Christianity a while ago (youtube.com/watch?v=5KDnnp0sDkI&t=429s). I have already responded just after Alex’s video came out. This video is a basic and general consideration of the problem of animal suffering. Its purpose is to lay out and critically consider the key assumptions that are typically brought to the table when the problem of animal suffering comes up. Among other things, you will find that evolutionary theory significantly undermines the case of the skeptic and that even Charles Darwin himself thought that, in the animal kingdom, the experience of pleasure and happiness outweighs the experience of pain.
