Clash Magazine today revealed its September cover: a digital artwork-based piece created in collaboration with the band Animal Collective to coincide with the release of their new album 'Centinpede HZ'.
The 8-page cover story is playing with the idea of contemporary digital psychedelia in print, inspired by the early film work of Kenneth Anger and print work of Oz Magazine. The magazine's Artistic Director worked closely with young filmmaker Niall Trask to create a print cover using digital stills from a hypercolour, acid trip-inspired moving image piece filmed exclusively when the band were in London this summer.
Baltimore's most mellifuous and lysergic of bands, Animal Collective, return next month with 'Centipede HZ', a dense foray into a livid world of creepy crawlies, alien jams and lost astral radio broadcasts. Clash hooked up with the band to find out whether Panda Bear really shot hoops with Tupac, and who can't handle their acid...
