Angiodysplasia (Common Cause of Intestinal Bleeding) | Causes, Signs & Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment

Angiodysplasias are the most common vascular abnormality of the gastrointestinal system. They are weak, thin-walled, dilated vessels that are prone to bleeding, and can represent the 2nd most common cause of bleeding from the gastrointestinal system, especially in those over the age of 60. In this lesson, we discuss the medical conditions associated with angiodysplasias, the proposed etiologies for why it occurs, the presenting signs and symptoms, how clinicians diagnose and how they treat it.
