Andrew York | Cradle Song (from Kinderlight)
Here's another relaxing tune for the weekend by Andrew York, entitled "Cradle Song". It comes from his "Kinderlight" Suite, and as York acknowledges, this piece serves as a nod to the famous Gymnopedies by Erik Satie. With the incredibly tranquil atmosphere achieved by this piece, we wanted to do something different to match this, and so we decided to put together another outdoor shoot! (albeit a very impromptu one.) This was also partly due to the renewed Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) that was recently announced, so we decided to get some video before the new measures came into effect. As always, thanks so much to my dad for his amazing help with recording the video footage!

[Béla Bartók]Six Dances in Bulgarian Rhythm Guitar Quartet arr. Richard Wright
This quartet is arranged by my teacher Richard Wright. We performed it during the 23rd Iserlohn Guitar Symposium 2014. Here we play highlights of the six dances. If you watch the last movement, the video actually morphs into the actual performance on the final night at the festival.
During the festival, we took master classes with William Kanengiser of Los Angels Guitar Quartet, Chris Ruben of Baltic Guitar Quartet and Rene Izquierdo. It was really great fun to be playing with my fellow guitar mates at the Yehudi Menuhin School.

He is considered one of the most important composers of the 20th century; he and Liszt are regarded as Hungarys greatest composers (Gillies 2001). Through his collection and analytical study of folk music, he was one of the founders of comparative musicology, which later became ethnomusicology.
