"Have you ever seen a leaf fall off a tree?"

[SPOILERS for the end of the film!]

I don't like how this video has come out at ALL, but I guess I'm still posting it because I didn't want to go away on holiday for a month without a new upload, and because I needed to share my feelings for this beautiful, compelling film. So sorry it's so sad too, I started it while in the middle of a couple of bad days that are thankfully far over now, especially since I'm travelling to my beloved Africa in less than three days and I refuse to have that spoiled. But I digress.

Anyway, Parked! I received the DVD for my upcoming birthday because everyone knows my love for Colin by now! I was all too keen to watch just because of him, but I actually found myself falling in love with every aspect of this film. It is a very touching story, about friendship and finding hope and new beginnings even in the most desperate of situations; and the main cast does a fabulous job in bringing it to life. Colm Meaney is just perfect in Fred's role, and Colin...well, he is simply outstanding as always. He has this way of conveying emotions so powerfully, you can't help but feeling them all as if they were your very own. He always puts so much into every character he plays that you no longer see the actor, but just the characters themselves, as if they were alive and real. He really is a gem and his art pretty much one of the very best thing Merlin ever brought to my knowledge.
Last but not least, I found myself loving the direction too, with all those clever close-ups and camera angles and the fantabulous lighting. I'm definitely checking Darragh Byrne's other works after this!

The video focuses around the unlikely but unique friendship that develops between Fred and Cathal. At the beginning Fred is lonely and quite desperate, with no hope for a better future, but then Cathal arrives and with his cheery attitude he helps him re-discover the beautiful side of life, which is what the leaf quote at the beginning alludes to. However, while Fred finally manages to sort his life once more, he can't help but be a witness to Cathal's self-destructive descent into suffering and addiction. I'll just say that by the end of the film I was in a puddle of tears ç_____ç but in spite of the sadness (which is not the only aspect of the film, I promise, even if judging from this video it might look like it) the film is actually very light-hearted, especially with the crazy stuff these two do together :')
I absolutely think this film is worth it all, it's just one of those films that leaves you with a message and stays with you for a long time, and now it has become one of my favourites. I needed to pour all my feelings out and vidding was the perfect outlet for that ^-^
